About Southern Ontario, Niagara Falls
Southern Ontario is a region of the province of Ontario, Canada. It is the most densely populated and southernmost area of Canada. It is home to 94% of Ontario’s total population, and about 35% of Canada’s total population.
The main cities of Toronto and the nation’s capital, Ottawa, are both located in Southern Ontario, as is the fruit and wine producing region of the Niagara peninsular, home to the Niagara Falls.
Niagara Falls is also the name of the city on the western bank of the Niagara River in the Golden Horseshoe region of Southern Ontario, with a population of 82,997 at the 2011 census. Across the Niagara River is Niagara Falls, New York.
